Are Genetically Modified (GM) Food Good Or Bad For people ?

After several researches scientists found a way to genetically modify food. They are using different genes of specie to improve the food, yet People around the world are debating whether it's good or bad to eat and each side has his own reasons.

Some people are supporting GM products, for it could provide resistance against insects pests. Bruce Tabsnik an entomologist at university of Arizona said "it will reduced the use of chemical pesticides", which can save the farmer financial status, because before they were devoting a lot of money to chemicals. Second reason, GM products can be grown in different conditions. For instance, tomatoes won't grow in winter, but by using the genes of cactus it can stand cold. Third reason, Jimmy Carter former U.S president believes that "GM products is a way to fight world starvation". It could provide enough food for everyone especially for the third world countries.

There are several disadvantages of GM crops. First, people who are against GM crops claim that it could be harmful. European farmer association expressed that "GM crops could pollinate with other crops", and farmers are afraid because once it's planted genes may transfer to a none-modified crops planted next to GM crops, therefore it could be difficult to distinguish between the organic crops and GM crops. Second, there are many children around the world have allergic to several thing for example fish and milk. That's because they are eating GM food which may contain genes that cause allergenic. Third, since GM food companies are controlling the food market, farmers are not gaining profit, therefore they are considering to shutting down.

In short, there are several advantages and some bad-effects of GM product for example it could be a solution for world starvation, but it could be harmful. In my opinion, I think GM food is a great invention, but there should be more researches about its bad effects
