The graying of the world

Today, Elderly people percentage is increasing rapidly all over the world. Global Ageing has several causes and effects to the world, yet there are some solutions that could reduce this issue.

One of the major effects of ageing is the dramatic decline in the fertility rate in the world, which is due to the moving of younger people from their home and countries to other countries, which will left only the elderly people at home.

The Veterans vs The Nexters

The Veterans are those born before World War 2 from year 1922 to 1943, while the Nexters are those who were born from year 1980 to 2000, since there is a 37 years gap between the two generation they have alot of differences .I will compare their workplace characteristic in term of the following category leadership style, feedback and message that motivate and work and family life.

First, they have different style of leadership. The Veterans are directive so they are very formal and they like to command and control others. Because they have the most experience in life they are expected to lead and they are the one who are leading U.S. In contrast, the Nexters leadership style is still to be determined, but they admire team work and cooperation. In result , they like to share Ideas with others . Leadership style is very different between the Veterans and the Nexters .

Second , in term of feedback and message that motivate , the Veterans believe in the term " no news is good news " which means not hearing about a situation indicates that everything is good and nothing bad happened , and the message that motivate them is " your experience is respected ". They admire the idea of being needed and respected by others. On the other hand, the Nexters want an immediate feedback, for they want to improve their job, and the message that motivate them is " you will work with other bright and creative people " and that's because they like share ideas with creative people, and to work with the best people in their field to get improved . Sometimes they work with companies voluntarily without getting paid just to learn from the best. Although the veterans are not concerned about feedback, they Nexters want it immediately.

Third, on the subject of work and family life, the Veterans consider work as the most important thing in life even more important than their own family. Since, they grow in a time where there was no enough jobs and opportunity they consider work as a privilege. Sometimes they work their entire life in one company, whereas the Nexters are balanced between work and family, and they consider work as a way to get a better future for themselves and their family. Although the Veterans are loyal to their employers and are seeking job security, the Nexters don't mind changing the job just work in better environment .

In short , the Veterans and the Nexters are so different in a way that they don't have much similarity , however by understanding and appreciating them I think they can work in harmony and they can learn from each other's

Are Genetically Modified (GM) Food Good Or Bad For people ?

After several researches scientists found a way to genetically modify food. They are using different genes of specie to improve the food, yet People around the world are debating whether it's good or bad to eat and each side has his own reasons.

Some people are supporting GM products, for it could provide resistance against insects pests. Bruce Tabsnik an entomologist at university of Arizona said "it will reduced the use of chemical pesticides", which can save the farmer financial status, because before they were devoting a lot of money to chemicals. Second reason, GM products can be grown in different conditions. For instance, tomatoes won't grow in winter, but by using the genes of cactus it can stand cold. Third reason, Jimmy Carter former U.S president believes that "GM products is a way to fight world starvation". It could provide enough food for everyone especially for the third world countries.

There are several disadvantages of GM crops. First, people who are against GM crops claim that it could be harmful. European farmer association expressed that "GM crops could pollinate with other crops", and farmers are afraid because once it's planted genes may transfer to a none-modified crops planted next to GM crops, therefore it could be difficult to distinguish between the organic crops and GM crops. Second, there are many children around the world have allergic to several thing for example fish and milk. That's because they are eating GM food which may contain genes that cause allergenic. Third, since GM food companies are controlling the food market, farmers are not gaining profit, therefore they are considering to shutting down.

In short, there are several advantages and some bad-effects of GM product for example it could be a solution for world starvation, but it could be harmful. In my opinion, I think GM food is a great invention, but there should be more researches about its bad effects

My Spring Break

My spring break was pretty normal and has nothing special. I have devoted most of my time studying for my toefl test. I have really wanted to visit California,  but since my test is coming I was nervous about it , so I stayed in Tempe and studied.

This toefl test was really important for me, because I have taken the test before but I didn't pass it, therefore I wanted to do well. However, what really has made me angry is that when I have arrived to the test location in phoenix the test center staffs was absolutely unprepared for it. They came late and the test should start at 8:00 but we have started after hour and a half also not all their microphone was working for the speaking section. I think I have done well in the test, but I'm not positive about the writing section cause I didn't have the time to write everything.

Second thing I have done is that I have applied to the University of Utah. It is very good university and I hope get accepted to it. Besides, Utah State has a wonderful weather. Arizona and my country climate are similar very hot, and I think I had enough of the heats.

During the breaks I have watched couple of movies and the most movies I liked is the hunger games. I have watched the trailer, and I thought it's just another boring movie, but when I saw it I can say it's one my favorite movies ever. I advise everyone to see it

In brief, I mostly didn't enjoy my break and I haven't done much because of the toefl test. There are a lot of places that I wanted to visit. I think most of us agree that this spring break scheduled in the wrong time

My Hometown , Dhahran

Personal Introduction

Hello everyone, my name is Mohammad saad alkhaldi. I'm from Saudi Arabia, Dhahran. I was born in U.S, Arizona on the 2nd of February 1988. My name means "praise-worthy" and it's the Name of the prophet and founder of Islam. I have been in U.S for 3 months, and this is my second session in AECP, and I'm very excited to be here and to learn the language. Everyone makes mistake nobody is perfect, but what's important is to learn from it, and I think the biggest mistake I have ever made is getting a low score in my high school. Every day I regret it, and I wish that I could go back in time and fix it .My biggest accomplishment would probably be getting an associate degree in accounting with a second degree of honor.
